AXE VALE POTTERY

The Axe Vale (Devon) Pottery Ltd. was established in the Axe Vale near Axminster Devon in the 1950′s by Tom Sherrif who had previously worked at the Honiton Pottery as a mould maker. Some-time later the pottery moved to Beer in Devon where production continued despite some difficulties in 1989, with the pottery finally closing in 1996.

Initially the products consisted of moulded items that were hand decorated some a little similar to the Honiton style. Later wares were more varied and ultimately there was a series of moulded items with transfer prints of natural subjects like flowers, birds or fish and kings or knights on prancing chargers ready to do battle.
